Valparai is a scenic hill station situated in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. This hill station is cradled high up at an elevation of 4,500 feet above the sea level, in the Anamalai Hills in the Western Ghats mountain ranges.The whole area is covered with the tea plantation and the major part of the population is the working class of these Estates. The district Collector of Coimbatore expressed his desire to start a convent there to strive for the welfare of the workers in this area. Considering this an important suggestion the Provincial Council took the necessary step immediately and 'Karunya Convent' was established on 10th March 2005.
